Reading Update!

Hello Friends!

I have read 3 new books lately.  One is a book called Self-Love by Robert Schueller, another called Backbone: The Power of Saying No, and the last is a Classic book by Napoleon Hill.

I should have the blog post up on these new books by sunday.  They were amazing, especially the Napoleon Hill one!

I am so glad I get to use this december to create a head start towards reading a book a day in 2013.  This will be very challenging but I believe the rewards will be beyond even my current imagination.

Here is a sample of some of the things I have noticed since starting to voraciously read!

  • I don't have time to worry!  By filling in my idle time with books, it really changes my thought patterns.
  • My perception of the world is changing and expanding!  I think when I don't read, my thoughts get locked into a rut of repetively thinking the same old thoughts over and over again.  It seems that when I pick up a book, I can think through another's thoughts!  It really breaks my patterns and get me THINKING again consciously!  I can see how as I continue to read, it will be like the Matrix Movie - a whole new world shall open up to me - reality!
  • It seems that as soon as I read a book, I start to notice its subject pop up all over the place!  For example, after reading the book called "Backbone: The Power of Saying No" which also talks about making requests, and speaking authentically... my eyes are enlightened to the many times every day when myself or others DO or DON'T have backbone.  In other words, when I put down the book, my reading has not ended, it only begins!  What I begin by reading, I must finish by living!
  • I have also noticed that I am more interested in people, and the conversations are more interesting!  Today I had a lunch appointment and my mind felt so alive, and it made for stimulating two way conversation full of ideas.
  • Also, even though its only been a week or two, It seems that this habit will indeed be an amazing healthy replacement to bad/neutral habits of "distraction" like facebook, internet surfing, espn, etc...       I am also finding overall that I am wasting less time!  I know that every minute counts if I am going to read even 1/2 a book a day, nevertheless a book a day!

Another note, I am being led (By God spirit in me :)) in terms of how I read each book.  Some books I am going to just read one time in one day, and never reread the book again.  On the other hand, some books that seem to be classics I am really intending to master!
For example, this last Napoleon Hill book - I read it in one day!  But the last few days I have been going back over my highlights and notes, and really letting the key thoughts soak in through mediation!

Also, I purchased two new awesome reading chairs from Mathis Brothers yesterday that have arrived today!

SO EXCITED!

God Bless!

Read and Grow Rich!!!
